How to play? Quick Guide

How to understand the game? In the folder with the game there is an "Complete guide" - this is a detailed list of the rules of the game. Start of the the game according to this collection of rules can be problematic, so in this guide we will consider the game process step by step, which will be more convenient.

  1. We lay out the game field on a suitable surface, take out player cards, chips (colonies, fleet), points chips. Note: There are 2 versions of the game - a game with points chips and with a record of points on paper. Both options have their own characteristics, we will consider the first.
  2. Determine the maximum number of turns within which the game will take place. Determine the number of points for an early victory (usually 100).
  3. In the player’s card, look at the “initial points” item and take as many points as it says there.
  4. We put on the map of the game a chip of the headquarters planet, from which the first ships will start. Select a level 1 planet from the edge of the field (marked with red borders).
  5. We arrange the ship chips in accordance with the player's card "initial fleet" and "cruisers". We put 3 ordinary ships in the orbit of the headquarters planet (the orbit is - 8 cells around planet). The remaining available ships remain in reserve. Ships that have not yet been created are removed away from the field.
  6. We define our strategy. As simple as possible, we set the goal to achieve the “influence bonus” indicated on the player card. Note: The "influence bonus" is not required to achieve victory, but striving for it, we score a lot of points along the way.
  7. The first turn of the game begins. We start to count turns. Move 3 ships in any direction 3 cells. It is desirable to approach the orbit of a planet.
  8. If our ships have gathered around a neutral (non-owned) planet, we can try to colonize it. The player card has a definition of "probability of colonization success". We roll the die once and if the number corresponds to success, we put a regular colony chip on it and take the points relying on colonization, which are also indicated on the card.
  9. It is recommended to colonize a planet closer to the center of the board if the selected civilization builds docks - this is noted on the player card "building special colonies". Bases are usually built later if they are available for that civilization.
  10. We select a suitable planet and build a dock on it. We replace the chip of an ordinary colony on the planet with a dock chip. Skip a turn to build (build phase). At the same time, we can create several regular ships - in the player's card "ship creation", or we build one cruiser.
  11. Ships from the reserve can start from the built dock (as well as from the headquarters planet). We use this to move to other sectors of the map and achieve the "influence bonus". We also use portals to quickly move from one sector to another. Portals - a convenient means of transportation, but unsafe - in the player card "risk in the portal".
  12. Having built special colonies in different sectors, we can count on some special opportunities - in the card "bonuses for building colonies".
  13. Technology development is of great importance. There are 3 options for how technologies are developed: 2 technologies from the start of the game (ancient civilizations), 2 technologies available for development at any time (Empire, Federation), and 1 technology tied to the "colony building bonus" (Anarchy).
  14. If someone is clearly ahead of us on points, we can challenge their lead by sending their ships for repairs or taking planets from them. In the player's card "victories in space battles" and "conquest of other planet." Some civilizations, on the contrary, receive points for a peaceful existence - a “peacemaker bonus”. There are also special ways to get points - "cargo transportation" and "piracy" (for some civilizations) and other special ways described in the rules.

Recommended maximum moves in game and quick start.

The more players participate in the game, the more time you have to spend on one circle (the turns of all civilizations). Therefore, if 2 people are playing, you can make many moves and it will not take much time, but if there are 9 players, then the situation is more complicated. In this regard, the recommended maximum moves:

2 player

45 turns

3 players

30 turns

4 players

23 turns

5 players

18 turns

6 players

15 turns

7 players

13 turns

8 players

11 turns

9 players

10 turns

(Calculation formula - 90 divided by the number of participants).

We remind you that the game can end before the set number of turns if someone scores 100 or more points.

In the web version of the game, the number of participants and moves is limited.

Fast start.

With a large number of players (from 6 to 9) or with limited time, it is advisable to start the game with quick start. This implies that all players are given an extra number of points at the start of the game, which reduces the number of turns required to achieve victory (10 - 20 points). The player can take any planets on the map as points, but with some restrictions (the choice of one of 2 options!):

  • Planets 2-level – no more than 2 planets
  • Planets 3-level – no more than 1 planet
